Undoubtedly, the discussion of new scenarios for the development of the oil and gas industry contributes to the further growth of its indicators. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the volume of oil and condensate production for the 1st quarter of 2022 amounted to 22.7 million tons, or 107.6% compared to the same period in 2021 (against the Plan - 101.7%). About 3.4 million tons of oil products were produced, or 107.5% compared to the same period last year. Over the past 25 years, out of almost 73 trillion KZT of investments attracted to Kazakhstan, more than 70% have been directed to the oil and gas sector.

In the context of the development of “green” energy, namely the widespread transition to alternative and renewable energy sources, large transnational oil and gas companies are paying serious attention to global scenarios for the development of the world economy’s need for hydrocarbon resources to develop key guidelines for their future development. The participants will discuss at the Plenary meeting what prospects for the development of the oil and gas industry within the framework of a low-carbon economy await the country, what impact the application of the ESG strategy has on companies in Kazakhstan. Separate panel discussions will be devoted to the implementation of Industry 4.0 and ESG in practice, ensuring environmental and industrial safety. Speakers will discuss where Kazakhstan is now in terms of introducing digitalization and innovative solutions in the oil and gas industry, how business process optimization affects the quality of work of enterprises, how to ensure the sustainability of optimizing operations in the oil and gas industry.

By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 18, 2022, the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Gas Industry of Kazakhstan for 2022-2026 was approved, which indicates the timeliness of holding such a panel session within the framework of KIOGE.
