New KIOGE business programme ‘looks East’ in 2011

Kazakhstan’s largest oil and gas trade event, KIOGE will launch a new business-focused conference programme this year on 6-7 October at the InterContinental in Almaty.

A key topic of the programme is ‘Looking East’, which explores commercial prospects in the growing Chinese oil and gas market and provides an update on the Kazakh-China pipeline.

‘Looking East’ is a topic which reflects the direction of the industry. As Kazakhstan’s second largest trading partner, China relies on Kazakhstan for security in the supply of energy. Both neighbouring countries present vast investment potential, which is at the core of the new topic.

Another highlight of the new programme is ‘Local Content - Finding the Right Balance’. Speaking on the interactive round-table discussion is Zhan Nurbekov, Director at the Ministry of Oil & Gas of Kazakhstan, who will update the expected 750 conference delegates on Kazakhstan’s integration of local content in oil and gas sector. The panel of speakers includes renowned industry expert and Advisor to the UK Parliament, Paul Domjan, who brings his expertise on energy policy and economic competitiveness to the session.

The line-up of 40 high-level speakers includes General Director of the Kazakh Institute of Oil & Gas, Uzakbay Karabalin, and UK Ambassador to Kazakhstan, David Moran both of whom are keynote speakers during the opening plenary. Senior representatives from traditional supporters, the Ministry of Oil & Gas of Kazakhstan and KazMunayGas will also speak at KIOGE.

ENDS.
