Tyumen businesses return from KIOGE with contracts and equipment orders

A charter plane recently landed in Tyumen containing industrialists from the city returning from the 20th anniversary KIOGE exhibition.

Managers of engineering and oil and gas service companies were happy with both the broad and direct business programme and with the results of negotiations with business representatives from Kazakhstan. Two companies returned with signed contracts to supply borehole equipment, and another received several orders directly at the event. Participation in the event, the charter flight and the business negotiations were all organised by the Shelkoviy Put Association of International Cooperation.

The KIOGE exhibition and conference is almost the same age as independent Kazakhstan. Since its first edition in 1993, KIOGE has become one of the country’s leading energy sector events, and it has developed into an important platform for discussing topical oil and gas issues and holding dialogue with domestic and international partners from the public and private sectors.
Since its launch and in the many years since, key industry companies and sector representatives have continued to take part in KIOGE, which is a testament to the relevance and necessity of the event. Every year, KIOGE brings together around 500 exhibiting companies from 30 countries under its roof, and 10,000 industry professionals visit, from both Kazakhstan and the global oil and gas community.

The Tyumen delegation took part with a representative mix of participants, all with impressive stands. The business representatives were accompanied by the Consul of Kazakhstan in the Tyumen Region Seyalkhan Makash and the former Trade Representative of Russia in Kazakhstan Sergey Averichev. The products on display included packer and anchor equipment (Yugson Service), fully-established energy-efficient heat and water-insulated pipelines (Sibpromkomplekt), geophysical equipment (Geotron), geophysical well equipment and specialised machinery (TOEZGP), blowout prevention equipment for rapid capping and well repair (GROM), oil and gas industry equipment (SibBurMash) and IT systems for fuel and energy companies (SibGeoProekt), as well as services from companies in the Tyumengeologiya consortium.

Other exhibitors and visitors of KIOGE showed interest in the Tyumen presentation - Kazakhstani officials, the Russian Trade Representative in Kazakhstan Alexander Yakovlev, and a large amount of oil and gas businesspeople from Central Asia all visited the stands. Several Kazakhstani companies, already awaiting business representatives from Tyumen, had prepared commercial order forms and contracts for supplying products - resulting in solid deals and the start of long-term cooperation.
Several heads of Tyumen-based companies took part in the international conference dedicated to the exhibition, opened and held by the Vice-Minister of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchukalov and the Vice-Minister of Industry and New Technologies Nurlan Sauranbaev. Once again, a wide and authoritative range of politicians, diplomats, economists and energy experts from various countries participated. The topics in the plenary session headings covered all the main issues in focus of the sector: the situation and prospects of the oil and gas industry, increasing the efficiency of exploration and production in Kazakhstan, diversifying hydrocarbon supply, and innovative production technologies. “The country’s oil and gas industry continues to maintain a positive rate of growth both in oil and gas extraction levels and in the production of oil-derived products. However, modern challenges dictate a need for a growth in quality as well as quantity. Specifically taking into account economic and environmental aspects, international investment needs to play an important role here,” said Mr Akchulakov.

Information was provided on a large number of the industry’s development trends. Particularly worth mentioning is the fact that an urgent need for large-scale geological exploration work has arisen, which the Government sees as one of the key factors in achieving a growth in quantity and quality in the energy sector. In this regard, a particularly important factor for companies in Tyumen is that a great deal of attention is being paid to working with Russian partners. The events within KIOGE uncovered some major prospects for Tyumen business in Kazakhstan, with several companies already finding success in terms of contracts signed.
