Kulibayev elected to Gazprom board

Head of Kazakhstan’s state-owned holding and investment company Samruk-Kazyna, Timur Kulibayev, has been elected to the board of directors of Russian gas giant Gazprom, Dow Jones reported on Thursday.

Kulibayev, along with Russian economist Vladimir Mau, has replaced Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and Economy Minister Elvira Nabiullina.

The changes come after President Dmitriy Medvedev earlier this year said state companies should replace ministers and other senior government officials on their boards.
